The worst feeling
Is knowing you’re
Right
There.
I can talk to you
In an
Instant.
But you’re too
Far
Away.
I can’t feel
You
Next to
Me.
Missing You
I thought I felt you next to me,
I swore I heard you breathe.
I turned to where your arms should be,
And only found the sheets.
I readjusted the pillow,
And pulled the blanket tighter,
Then cuddled up all alone,
Wishing you’d come home.
I felt your warmth beside me,
I heard you heave a sigh.
I turned the lamp on,
And couldn’t find you there.
So I curled up on my own,
And pretended you were there,
Then cried myself to sleep,
Hoping you’d come home.
I woke to your lips,
Pressed against my cheek.
You pulled me in your arms,
And rocked me back to sleep.
We huddled there together,
And slept the day away,
Then spent forever together,
Knowing we were home.
